Introduction

After the Great recession that made its way across the UK in 2008, industries everyway experienced record losses and deficits which lead to the permanent closure of many businesses. One industry that did not suffer a loss, in fact actually saw record levels of growth is the Television and Film industry or at a wider view, the Creative Media Industry.

Primarily this was caused because of the lessened amount of disposable income among lower to middle working-class families leading to Television usage increasing, this allowed media companies to step in and cater to that audience, creating new jobs and opportunities during a difficult time.

Closer to home, Game of Thrones, a show created to cater to for the growing Television audience helped show the world that Northern Ireland not only has plenty of studios and landscapes worthy of appearing in series that are popular all over the world, but also that there’s an incredible amount of talent located here that is untapped in its energy and its possibility.

Because of this it is incredibly important to take a look into the potential of the Creative Media Industry here and highlight the importance of investment in not only film but the wider Creative Media Sphere.
